SCULPTING THE VACUUM TO MAKE IT PRESENT!
Analysing the site ,the best views are in Southeast –Southwest arc, but the terrain has little south facing, so we opted for an angled organization along the longitudinal axis so as to provide the best sunlight conditions and best views for the maximum amount houses and apartments
the vacuum in slopes have a latent spatial directionality, a directionality which also coincides with the best visual all around , these slopes seem to invite us to accompany them to play accordingly ..
Our strategy: to design the building masses in order to emphasize this perceived spatiality in place, set up a sequence of spaces at different scales, generating a gradation from the habitable interior space to the great void of the golf course.
Following this spatial intention , we worked the idea of “duplex” creating an intermediate double-height space, as an open exterior room , but also interior, with many balconies in it … architecture and environment interpenetrating to each other … vacuum flows
This idea of continuity extends to basements, they are linked through an “English courtyard” which opens basements to the natural light and becomes part of the intermediate vacuum
Given the strong slopes of the terrain that makes quite difficult vehicular circulation , we proposed a circulation by perimeter at the foot of the slopes and set up the parking area in basements
In some way , topography has been “distilled”, with some earthworks, in order to collaborate in the creation of “exterior open rooms ” and create stunning visuals in a dynamic space , make them viable for safely activities and stabilize slopes
In short: sculpting the vacuum to make it vibrate , to make it present!
